Victory in New Spain 01/12/08

Another night of PvP with no losses. The highlight being that we sunk both Halod Crane and Jack Simple in a single battle.

Pablo, Alfredo(Mike), and myself took on those two well-known Pirates and sent them both down to Davey Jones' Locker. Jack Simple fell quickly to me after a boarding action, but Halod repulsed my crew handily, even though he was vastly outnumbered.

Lesson to us all, don't engage Halod in a boarding action, he has some knowledge of boarding combat that surpasses me. He was using Florentine style and I couldn't even touch him. I haven't figured out what he did exactly yet but it was ridiculous.

Whenever you block an attack, you now lose 4 Balance points. This has no real effect on combat, but it does resolve an exploit where you could stack Block and Balance buffs and actually become invulnerable. This slight Balance penalty is enough to resolve that exploit.
